If we prick our finger and a little blood comes out, would it be bad or wrong to put our finger in our mouth or suck the blood?

What if we do it to say our girlfriend, and end up taking in a bit of her blood,is that sinful, should we go to confession for this?

dont worry i read about what the Bible says about Blood ,and to do this with another person to become like a “blood brother” thing is wrong and that we should be very cautious about these things,

Pray for me

God bless

don’t see how that would be wrong…

I have a question though…why do you ask?

I would like to know about this too. I know that in the Mosaic law, there’s something about eating blood being forbidden. But, that’s not binding upon us anymore, is it? And we even receive Jesus’ real flesh and blood in the Eucharist. So eating blood cannot in itself be a sin. I would like to know the teaching about this. Would it be wrong to taste some one else’s blood? I’m not talking about vampirism, but just if one were to taste it?

Maybe a venial sin…self-inflicted injury. 🤷

Maybe scruples?

Paul: just don`t leave any fang marks on her neck! 😃

Rocks:
id say itd be a (venial) sin if someone were to ***deliberately ***nick himself so that someone else could taste a sample. Self-inflicted injury. “Thou shalt not kill.”
Hardly a big deal, though.

But, surely, a small prick with a needle to obtain a drop of blood wouldn’t count as self-injury, would it? 😃

It woud be stupid.

One does not know what potentially infectious disease another may be carrying; they many not even know themselves.

I’m pretty certain all blood tastes the same…

Word. Good way to catch all sorts of blood-borne pathogens.

The Noachide covenant is very much still binding. Eating living flesh or consuming living blood is a sin. Obviously this does not apply to the Eucharist because we are explicitly commanded to take “take this and eat it,” to “do this in memory” of Christ.

That said, I really don’t think that instinctive wound-licking (which serves a valid medical purpose if done to oneself) runs afoul of the Noachide covenant. As a matter of prudence it would be best to avoid licking the wounds of others.

Yes, I suppose it could be imprudent, but would it be any worse than when a non-vegetarian eats meat. (I think there would be some blood in there too…)

Anyway, infections aside, can you give a reference to the Church teaching which says that that law is still binding on Christians, because I honestly thought that it wasn’t binding on Christians…?

Well, what would be operant here is the Church declaring that the Noachide covenant is no longer binding. Unless they have done so (and to my knowledge, they have not), the presumption should be that it remains in effect. And we should hope it does, since, after all, in it, God promised He would never again flood the Earth.

I would refer you to Acts 15:19-21 though, where the prohibition on drinking blood is reaffirmed.

Dude, you do know you’re supposed to cook meat before eating it, right?

Not to belabor the point, but one of the [many] reasons that cannibalism is a bad idea is that it is easier for us to catch diseases from eating human meat than say, cow meat. It’s harder (but not impossible) to catch diseases from other species. Cooking meat and blood kills the pathogens inside.

I thought many people ate raw meat also. (Sorry, I’m vegetarian so forgive my ignorance.)

I get your point! 🙂

Because some time back i acted like a hero and when my girlfriends finger was bleeding one day i put some into my drink and drank it because i liked her so much or felt close to her like with no other

i thought it would make us inseperable

soon after we fought and are no longer friends

Different subject, but the same thing happens frequently with unwed sex. “She’s the one” or “He’s the one” is a very bad reason to justify fornication. 🤷

Did she see you do this?

Because if I was with someone who did this, I would think they were a few bricks shy of a full load. I would seriously wonder about their judgment and seek to distance myself immediately. Drinking other people’s blood is not normal, standard behavior.

Maybe she wanted a Jacob and realized you were an Edward.

I don’t mean to make light of what was probably a depressing experience for you. When we are young, we sometimes tend to idolize everything about someone we care about, including their body fluids. You probably thought it was a darkly romantic gesture of commitment, she probably thought it was incredibly gross. You live and you learn, I guess. If I were to start listing all the ways I messed up with girls I Iiked in high school, this would be an incredibly long thread.

Curse the lesson but bless the knowledge, Paul.

i wont be doing that again with anyone…and am disapointed i did that to her and myself, she was a real good hearted girl and didnt deserve for me to do that

ive also become more ‘normal’ these days

i dont think she saw me do this, she was next to me but wasnt looking at me,but from the corner of her eye ? i dont know

:o

A doggy always licks his wounds as a natural instinct. The ones in the know
say that there is vitamin C in his saliva to help heal the wound. It also helps to
clean the doggy’s wound. I would imagine it would be the same for a human to
lick their wounds especially if med supplies are not present to apply.

But as someone has already said, it might not be good to do this to another
person because noone knows what type of bad material might be in their
blood.

However people do this to snake bit wounds, although I hear this is ineffective to
stop the poison from spreading.
