Are there any other bluegrass fans in these forums? If so, does anyone know of a CATHOLIC bluegrass act? I have not found one. Just wondering if there are any Catholic hymns done bluegrass style. I’d start a Catholic bluegrass band, but I can’t find any other Catholic bluegrassers.

I’m a Traditional (figures…) Bluegrass fan, so my tastes run to the older groups. Most of the hymns I’ve heard have tended to be “Bible - based” / Prot.

If you find a Catholic bluegrass band - let me know! Bluegrass is awesome.

I like to try to make up Catholic “country” lyrics during my commute, but I can’t pick a lick and my wife’s the only fan of my singing voice.:rotfl:

But as GK said, it’s worth doin’, it’s worth doin’ badly.

A quick search turns up Fr. Edward Richard and he apparently has 2 CD’s out. Bob Rice is another artist who has branched into bluegrass. Marie Bellet came up on another site. One site was catholicmusicnetwork.com another was catholiccompany.com. Sheeniac was right in that most traditional blugrass is geared towards protestant/bible based if the subject is religion.

Love it. My idea of a heavenly hour would be spent playing dog-house bass with a competent bluegrass band.

I love bluegrass music, much to the chagrin of my friends. My fiance and I listen to it every now and then on XM channel 14.

Father Jim Tucker is a country music fan, and Bluegrass is an important segment of country. Maybe he has an answer to this. His blog is Dappled Things.
I think I’d like Catholic Bluegrass.
