Disappointing but not surprising. I notice at least one misstatement: an “egg” is not prevented from implanting, because “eggs” cannot and do not ever implant … but they probably see that as an unimportant (yet convenient) lack of precision.
To me, this is simple, and we tried to make the cowards on the pharmacy board (who were afraid our “Catholic” governor would fire them if they did not approve these guidelines, so they protected their jobs rather than vulnerable Washingtonians) see it this way at the public hearing:
1 - It is an indisputable fact (the manufacturer says so and even PP grudgingly admits it on their website) that Plan B can prevent the early-developing human from implanting in the endometrium of the uterus, thus causing its death.
2 - Since it would be immoral for anybody who values that particular early-developing human life to contribute to killing it, and it is almost always impossible to know whether or not a particular ingestion of the drug might cause this, these pharmacy guidelines require pharmacists in WA State to do something immoral which might also be in violation of their conscience, or to assist and facilitate such action.
3 - Just as we should not require pharmacists to participate in assisted suicide (through drugs, which may be the next battle), or force soldiers into combat who wish to be conscientious objectors, we should not force pharmacists to participate in doling out drugs like Plan B or assisted suicide drugs or any similar drug which cures no illness and corrects no abnormal condition.
Please pray that this law will be struck down in court the very first time a good Christian pharmacist violates it, so that other good pharmacists who might fear reprisal will not be forced or cajoled into distributing these death-dealing substances.
