Boaz anointing?

I was idly flipping through channels this morning, when something on a televangelist program caught my eye. It was a preacher (Mike Murdock, I believe) inviting people to sow their $1000 “Seeds of Faith” (and of course all major credit cards were accepted) and God would give them a debt-free home, financial support from investors, a strife-free life, etc., the usual “health and wealth” doctrine. He then told us that it was time for us to tell God that we demand the good things coming to us. He also mentioned that by sowing the $1000 “seed”, we would not only get a free copy of his book but also a “Boaz anointing”. Google was less than helpful in a search for this term. Anyone know what this is supposed to mean?
 
Yea, I know what it means. It means that there are people out there, posing as ministers, who are trying to fleece the flock of their money. :mad:

Yeah, I got that much. I was wondering if there was some actual background to the term, or if the guy just pulled a random name out of the Bible to fool people into thinking it was a Scriptural thing. My guess is the latter, but my curiousity has not yet been satiated.

The Lord also spoke to Todd about financial blessing and His release of the anointing of Boaz this year. Boaz gave greater gleanings from the harvest and special favor to Ruth. In the same way, the Lord of the Harvest is going to give greater gleanings to His church, His bride to be. So there is definitely a connection between the gleaning of the harvest and the reaping of a greater harvest of souls for the church.

In the book of Ruth, Boaz is often seen as a Christ-figure while Ruth is seen as a type of the church. Boaz becomes the kinsman redeemer, the one who protected and provided for the widow of a relative. He protected Ruth from the men who were reaping, gave her water and bread, as well as grain that would purposely be dropped from the bundles for her – grain that she didn’t have to work to reap. Boaz also bought and redeemed Ruth’s mother-in-law’s land so she wouldn’t have to sell it, in her poverty, to provide for herself and Ruth. Finally, Boaz married Ruth and gave her a child to rescue her from the reproach of her widowhood and barrenness.

We believe that this year the Lord is pouring out that same Boaz anointing upon the body of Christ. Jesus, our kinsman redeemer and Lord of the harvest, will provide special protection to His church that has been devastated by loss and poverty. For those who go out to the harvest, He will also give great safety, favor, and harvest that will not need great labor. The harvest will come with ease – an increase of a harvest of souls will be coming this year to God’s people as they go out. For those in His body who go to the field of the world, the Lord will provide physically and financially for them as well. Many Christians have battled with financial lack and debt for years. But those who trust the Lord of the Harvest this year will begin receiving their redemption from that oppression of poverty. He will begin to pour out the finances needed for the harvest, the provision the prophets have spoken of for years. The church will also experience greater intimacy with Jesus this year as the Boaz anointing is released.

Yeah, a scam.
 
The sin of simony, selling blessings, is specifically condemned in the Acts of the Apostles. Anyone who claims to be a preacher for any Christian denomination should be well aware of that passage.

I can hardly stomach some of those televangelists. You see “telethons” all the time on t.v., where they’ll find some scripture–say, Psalm 63v15 (I just pulled that out of my head)–and tell people that if they pledge $63.15 monthly (or something like that) they’ll reap abundant blessings or whatever. It’s so sad to think that many are taken in by this stuff. 😦

The Silver First

In 2005, as the Lord begins to release the silver financial blessings and the silver vessels (His ministers of Glory) He is looking for faithfulness. Those who are faithful will receive the gold, the larger financial blessings (and, greatest of all, the outpouring of His glory). The financial economy in the U.S. was tied to a gold standard for many years until President Nixon took it off this standard; this act has disrupted the gold economy until now. However, God is about to rectify the system and redistribute the wealth—gold will soon find its way into the hands of God’s people.

Twenty-one years ago when God spoke to Charlie the first time about finances for harvest, God’s words were so powerful that he fell off his chair onto the floor. “I’m about to bring you into the wealth of Solomon,” the Lord said. Recently, when God began speaking to Charlie again about the finances, it was to refocus His prayers to pray for (and expect) the silver first: the smaller financial blessings and the settings, the servants of God that contain the glory.

The highest thing that we can have in the kingdom of God is to behold His glory and see Him as He is (2 Cor. 3:18); the highest thing in the realm of the world’s wealth is gold. However, silver is also precious, and if we reject it and pursue the gold only, we will miss what we seek. The Lord is saying that the silver is first, then the gold. The servants, the silver vessels of the Lord, must be fully received and honored first before we will receive the glory. The church has rejected the vessels the Lord has sent throughout the years; that’s why we don’t get the glory. Jesus came and they rejected Him, the vessel; He carried the glory and the Pharisees rejected the very vessel that was carrying the glory because they didn’t like the way He looked or the things He did.

I’ve always thought the “Reformation” was actually powered by the Church finally getting around to getting rid of the scam artists…before Martin Luther, there was an effort WITHIN the Church to reform, and Martin Luther simply gave the scam artists a “figurehead”, a kind of “Protestant pope”, to rally’round. Martin Luther was more of a patsy for scam artists like these guys selling “Boaz anointing” than he was a great leader/theologian.

yeah I know what it means it is the sin of simony, selling spiritual blessings, or it would be if there was any such of thing as a Boaz Anointing. can you say “scam” boys & girls?

My childhood best friend is totally enamored of this Mike Murdock. She had converted to Catholicism in college and now attends this guys church; I am so saddened by this. She lost both her parents and her siblings, is divorced, and never had kids. She is alone, desperate and is convinced this man, Murdock, has a crush on her and she him. She was recently hired by him but she does not know for what job, odd. They gave her a myriad of personality tests and like I told her, “now he knows how to get into your brain.” I think he has drained her financially and I have read there have been several women come forward stating they were all lead to believe he would marry them!

What book can I buy her to open her eyes? I have an opportunity here to slowly open her eyes without having her shut the door on me, what advice do you all have?

Hmm…can’t prove this, but it sounds like donations have been dropping off (the recession, y’know), so they’ve got to come up with new schemes to keep their income levels up. So-o-o glad I’m out of that.
