Since Jesus said ‘This is my body’, how did the church come to interpret that the Eucharist is actually the 'body, (blood), *soul, and divinity *of Jesus?

And, what is meant by ‘divinity’ in this case? I’ve never really thought about it before, but now that I am, I don’t think I understand it.

Jesus Christ is a divine person the Second Person of the Godhead, God-man. His human nature is united to his divinity. Jesus Christ is alive. He rose from the dead on Easter Sunday morning. In the Holy Eucharist as Holy Communion we do not receive a dead body, rather we receive Jesus Christ Himself, crucified and glorified.

Because we believe it is ALL of Jesus truly present, we use the terms Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. It’s not just His Flesh, It’s not just His Spirit, It is All of Him.

Just as in the marital act of lovemaking, you receive the whole person and give your whole person to them; Jesus gives us His Entire Self and we give Him our entire selves.
