There appears to be a perhaps well intentioned but nonetheless dangerous scam circulating concerning the issuance of a Motu Propio by the Holy Father. According to the posters of these articles the Sunday,January 7 edition of La Osservatore Romano will announce that the long awaited universal indult has been announced. Whippee. However, being the investigator that I am, I decided to check it out. As some of you may have realized I do this on occasion especially when I hear claims of a somewhat dubious nature.Several things are wrong on the face of it.
  1. the name of the Vatican newspaper is L’Osservtore Romano, not La Osservtore Romano as listed in the article, which was accompanied by a photo of the article itself and the header. really stupid move on the part of the scammer.:tsktsk:
Well that was enough to show it was a scam but I dug further as i often do in these things
  1. The article was to be in the Sunday January 7 edition. The scammers had allegedly been leaked a pre-copy. According to their, L’Osservatore Romano’s website, due to the Epiphany celebration there will be no edition on the 7th. Publication will resume on the 8-9th.
Also the article itself made no sense at all.

DON’T FALL FOR THIS TYPE OF SCAM FOLKS
