I became disaffected with the LDS church when I realized that I had been lied to all my life. There are massive lies and cover ups. Thanks to the Internet, the LDS church can’t hide anymore. They published a number of essays, partially coming clean and partially trying to justify past lies. I didn’t buy any of it.

My question is that now that I’m studying Catholicism, are there any bones in the closet that I need to be aware of, or any that I don’t?

Lay it on me . . .

We Catholics value honesty. It’s in the 10 commandments. Of course, we are all sinners.

As human beings, we have faults, so that while we try to follow Christ, to live the commandment, to live in love of God, and genuine acts of kindness to other people, we have failures sometimes, but we have faith in Gods mercy, and many of us continue to try to live God’s loving will, the best we can manage, with Gods grace.

God bless you as you seek to find God’s loving will in your life.

If you study the history of the Popes of the Catholic Church, you will fine great saints, and great sinners (by modern standards) The RCC is led by the Holy Spirit and one interesting thing I find is that when considering the fallible nature of man, namely these popes who were less than saintly, our faith is consistent and strong over the course of 2000 years. Even the “bad” popes did some good things when it came to the basic tenets of the faith. Given that, it is a somewhat backhanded “proof” of the power and goodness of the RCC. And, you can find all this information if you look for it. Again, the beauty is that the RCC is an institution dedicated to the truth. We are not afraid to admit our shortcomings.
