I’ve read one his best-known book – American Freedom and Catholic Power – but not the one you mention.

Blanshard was basically a professional anti-Catholic, of a type that doesn’t really exist anymore. And the kind of anti-Catholicism that was prevalent when Blanshard was writing (1949) is pretty much gone, laid to rest by the election of John F. Kennedy.

His books might be worth reading as historical curiosities, but that’s about it.
