Is there a good orthodox book, web site, video, etc. out there that explains the origins and reasons for each of the Tridentine mass rubrics? A good priest I know wants to learn these things before he starts saying the extraordinary form of the mass.

Something like that might be found in textbook form for a class in Liturgy; I would expect they would be fairly rare. It should not be to hard to find one that teaches the rubrics, but as to the history of them, that is going to go back over four centuries and is more of a historical approach to liturgical symbolism. If I was to look anywhere, I would look for a graduate school which has a degree in Liturgy. another place would be a seminary library.
