Book for a Teenager

I don’t know if this is the right place for this, but here I go anyway.

Does anyone have suggestions for a book for a teenage boy that explains what Catholics believe and why. Something funny and easy to read would be good. I am trying to find something that will cover all of the basics, the existence of God, Christian God, The Eucharist, Sunday obligations, all of that kind of thing.

I am his Confirmation Sponsor. I will be going away to college this fall and I want to make sure he has something to answer his questions when he can’t get a hold of me.

I have no idea where to start.

All of these books look really good. I guess its not that necessary that it is funny. It’s just he doesn’t really like to read. So I want to make sure it keeps him interested. I hope, though, that he will try to find answers to his questions even if the source was as boring as a dictionary.

I wholeheartedly second Amy Welborn’s “Prove It!” series and would like to add “Nuts and Bolts” by Tim Staples.

Also, “How Firm a Foundation” by Marcus Grodi is an excellent work of fiction that is also a fabulous work of apologetics!
 
I would suggest “A Philadelphia Catholic in King James’ Court”. It’s a fiction novel about a teen aged boy who finds himself having to defend the Church and Catholic beliefs to his fundie pastor uncle. It’s well written and very suspenseful. A lot of really good apologetics here.

Probably not exactly what you have in mind, but I recommend *Mere Christianity *by CS Lewis followed by *Orthodoxy *by GK Chesterton.

Both of these were great minds on fire for Christ. It may not be exactly what you had in mind but I loved them.
