Does anyone know of a good book on Pius XII specifically on his role in WWII? I am specifically looking for a book that shows him in a good light and not the revisionist historicity found in books like “Hitler’s Pope.”.

Your help is appreciated.

bump … I hate to bump my own thread but this is for a friend who wants to do a college paper on him.

How soon is it due? There were several bios done in his own time and at least one or two new ones that aren’t hatchet jobs.

If your friend can’t find the older ones in the college library (try the Dewey Decimal collections instead of the Library of Congress-numbered holdings), then go to amazon.com, to the books section, type in Pius XII and you’ll see the newer ones. The titles should reveal which ones are positive towards him.

Go to www.firstthings.com and search the book reviews for Pope Pius XII and related topics. You’ll come up with some good titles and reviews on those titles. I’d link you to them, but I’m in something of a hurry right now.

God bless.

Here is a book that has been recommended to me. I trust the person who recommended and it seems to be a more accurate view point.

The Pius War: Responses to the Critics of Pius XII
Joseph Bottom (editor) and Rabbi David D. Dalin

Hope this helps.

The Myth of Hitler’s Pope is supposed to be a very good book, written by Rabbi David Dalin. I saw him on an episode of The World Over with Raymond Arroyo on EWTN. I would like to read it myself.
