I am hoping CAF can make a good recommendation for a even handed book (or even website or webpage; free is good
) that explores the early sources about Jesus’ passion (stuff such as the Gospel Sources (Q, etc), secular sources such as Tacitus, Lucian, etc)?
I am looking at Death of the Messiah amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0385494491/peterkirby (Volume 2) though it is rather expensive and seems slanted (though I guess the truth is slanted to one side or the other so
)
I did look at NT Wright’s book on Jesus but was disappoint as it seems more an analysis of what the New Testament says; not other sources as well. (though a book on the historical validity of the NT would be good too).
So any suggestions?
