Hello all.

I am interested in a list of good books on Heaven.

They don’t NEED to be orthodox Catholic authored but I would certainly prefer that they are.

I read Anthony DeStefano’s “A Travel Guide To Heaven” (which I thought was excellent) and it left me wanting more writings to enjoy on this topic.

I am putting this in the Sacred Scripture/Apologetics section as I would like (but this is not necessary) the books suggested to have a Catholic Apologetic flavor concerning Heaven.

I want to be able to defend the existence of Heaven, expound on it in my conversations, and defend the teachings of the Catholic Church in this area better. It would be nice if the book had some citations of the ECFs (Early Church Fathers) on Heaven too.

Thank you in advance.

Heaven, the Heart’s Deepest Longing by Peter Kreeft

The Glory of Heaven by Helen Keeler and Susan Grimbly

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Heaven-- But Never Dreamed of Asking by Peter Kreeft

What The Saints Said About Heaven: 101 Holy Insights On Everlasting Life by Ronda Chervin, Richard Ballard and Ruth Ballard

I’m pretty sure Cardinal Ratzinger’s Eschatology has a section on heaven.

Good suggestion. I just ordered this one: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Heaven-- But Never Dreamed of Asking by Peter Kreeft.

This one appears to be an article (link here) – actually a series of articles. Skimmed it and seems very good.

And I’ll have to check this book out (Cardinal Ratzinger’s Eschatology) for a section on Heaven. I have the book but have yet to read it.

I think I will also order Rhonda Chervin’s book (What The Saints Said About Heaven) too.

Thanks for the great recommendations. Any others?

This one was good. It’s all based on Catholic theology, no speculation. Seemed to be very Orthodox and easy to read.

Thanks Cranch.

Just read the article you cited (at your suggestion) and will seriously consider Dante.

Thanks also J_Peterson.

My wife read another of Fr. Saward’s books: The Beauty of Holiness and the Holiness of Beauty: Art, Sanctity, and the Truth of Catholicism.

She thought it was great.

“Sweet and Blessed Country” is another book that deserves serious consideration.

Many thanks.

Any other suggestions?
