Book recommendations for Church councils?

I want to learn about all of the councils the Church has had but have no idea which books to consult. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I suppose the first question would be is how deep do you want to go? Do you want an extensive analysis over the council or an overview of the major details?

More of an overview would be better.
 
If you’re just looking for an overview, NewAdvent.org has that on their website:

newadvent.org/library/almanac_14388a.htm

Plus, you can click on the links to be taken to the article on each council in the Old Catholic Encyclopedia. That works for all but Vatican II (since Vatican II took place after that encyclopedia was written). But it’s a lot easier to find info on Vatican II anyway. 😛
