Hello everyone!

I know that you can help me out, you all have interesting advice and ideas about families.

I have a cousin getting married and I wanted to get him and his fiance a small gift of congrats b/c they are having an engagement party later this month. Rather than a cute little something for their house, I’d really like to get them a book to prepare them for marriage. Well, ideally I’d like to get them pre-marital counseling sessions b/c I think all couples could benefit from that- but the fact is I’m nowhere near able to afford to pay for anything like that! 🙂

Anway, if any of you have any suggestions of books about finances or relationship/family issues that would be good for a young couple, please post them here. Neither of them are particularly religious and only my cousin’s fiance is Catholic.

Thanks in advance!

For Better… Forever, by Dr. Gregory Popcak

It’s excellent!

Married 20 years, I just started a wonderful Catholic book written originally in German and published in 1929, called “Marriage, the Mystery of Faithful Love” by Dietrich von Hildebrand. Its message is timeless. Also, I have heard that Fulton Sheehan’s “Three to Get Married” is very good.

“Three to get married” is great, but very deep, so take some time to read it and really absorb what he has to say, it is worth every minute! It talks about a lot! There is also a book called " A handbook for engaged and newly married catholic couples" and it has an interesting questionnaire in the back that may start some good conversations about important things,.
