Hello, does anybody know of any useful books on oral tradition/history? I’m looking at getting “Oral Tradition as History” by Jan Vansina, but would like to know people’s opinions. Thank you

Do you mean starting from the Apostles in the Church, or before the INCARNATION among the Jews, or something else?

I mean something that discusses oral history as a whole, or a study of how oral history is analyzed. Thanks

I believe I have a few. I must rest then work first. When I get time, I’ll make a recommendation.

You may be interested in reading “The Fathers Know Best” by the CA apologist Jimmy Akin. It’s a handbook about the early church Fathers. It’s very interesting and quite readable. You can find it on Amazon.

Hi, actually I have a similar one, “The Teachings of the Church Fathers” by Fr. John Willis. It is a nice compendium of the early church thoughts on topics, but I’m looking at more for something that deals solely with Oral history and its makeup. I’ll give Akin’s book another look though. Thank you
