A few days ago, I listened to a speaker talk about social justice (when he was supposed to be speaking about another topic entirely), and he mentioned that there is a lot of criticism on Pope Pius XII’s lack of involvement regarding the Jews and the Holocaust during WWII. I’ve never really though too much about it, but once I talked to my mom about it, she mentioned reading a book about how he was very involved, hiding Jews in the Vatican and how that he helped to basically save 60-70% of the Italian Jews.

Anyone know of any books that talk about this? This talk was for an RCIA class (I’m a sponsor) and we are going to discuss what we thought of the talk the next time we meet, and I’d just like to have some back up on what my mother told me other than, “My mom said…” Thanks! 🙂

I good one to read is The Myth of Hitler’s Pope by Rabbi Dalin. Another good one is Hitler, the War and the Pope by Ronald Rychlak.

For information go to catholicleague.org/pius/framemain.htm
lots of helpful information there. 🙂
