Books that address the tie of Nationalism to Heresies

As an amateur historian I have noticed common trait amongst all heresies and that is the “nationalistic” flavor that these all seen to have. The Lutheran Heresies where aimed at the Germanic peoples as well as the Calvinists. The Anglican heresies initiated by Henry the VIII obviously nationalistic, Islam (Arab Nationalism) Orthodox Schism etc…

Does anyone know if this subject has been addressed at any length and where can I find such information?
 
This is just my reflection. I haven’t done any deep study on it.

I think there were many heresies, but those which held an advantage for the local/national government were supported by that government and flourished. A National Church was a crucial element in breaking free of the Empire and Roman influence.
