Boppysbud:

Have you had a chance to look at able college Lewis Library?
home.earthlink.net/~stollerusa/library1.htm

I would welcome your questions, comments and first impression!

I’m hoping to make the web site a friendly and constructive place for all of Christendom:
Catholic & Orthodox
Protestantism
and anything not of the above 3

Actually, this question is open for anyone and everyone here in Catholic Answers Forum 🙂

My opinion, you really need a more profesional design. Also get a simple domain name “LewisLibrary.com” or whatever is not taken. GoDaddy.com domain names are $9 and forwarding is FREE. The links and material are great, but the right side of the screen is not being used.

I am no artist myself so I can’t comment on the colors. Just use colors where the text clearly stands out from the background. It’s not bad the way it is.

The same with Dave Armstrong’s site. He needs a front page where you don’t have to scroll down a mile. The material is excellent, some of the best on the web in Catholic apologetics, but he needs to re-do his front page where you don’t have to scroll. That is sooooo 1996 design. 😃

I think Dave Armstrong should hire a “professional” to re-do his whole site, or at least his front page. Then it would be awesome. And not me since I’m not a web artist.

Excellent idea! However, since going to Earthlink, I now can safely move to FL and still dial Earthlink “locally.” I would rather not make use of fowarding - some security software “flag” re-directs and that would give me additional problems 🙂
Also, there are three other libraries, 1 chapel, 1 admin & 1 memorial, so having a .com for each one would run into monies and upkeep troubles 🙂 --rjs

I’m using PC-Write 3.03 (dos app) and windows3.11-ish EditPlus to hard-wire my pages, each one of them. I hardwire my right-margin to keep things looking “in place” whether full-screen or 2/3-screen (normal browser default). --rjs

I use colors sparingly, I strive for straight black on white text – I cannot override user’s individual settings though. --rjs

You’re right about the top/bottom scrolling!! I haven’t yet enacted some ideas to try. I did add a "begin quick directory and “end quick directly” to give folks a “whew” boundary. --rjs

Yep, he and I have a love for top/bottom-scrolling-forever.
Maybe, in time, little by little, I can do something about it, library by library. --rjs

Do you know that I’m listed in a neutral way on Dave Armstrong’s web site? I’m very happy to not be listed as a “Protestant” site - because able college is Christendom, not any specific Group within Christendom 🙂 --rjs

PhilVaz - maybe in time, I can afford a professional to re-do everything; right now, I’m retired, and the web site is designed to not make any monies in any way 🙂 --rjs

Roland, I think you have a very comprehensive site.

I think it literally has something for everybody. 😃

Although I didn’t have to do much more than peruse the titles, and subjects, I did bookmark it for future reference. I wll look at it further when I have more time.

Thanks for bookmarking the site!

I hope over time I can put into place a couple of PhilVaz’s suggestions! He has a very very good web site, so he knows what appeals and what doesn’t.
