Boston Halloween alternatives?

Calling anyone who lives anywhere near Boston MA:

I’m looking for a Christian Halloween party type thing around here for my kids and other than calling every non-Catholic church in our area I just don’t know how to find it. (The reason I don’t call our Catholic churches is they just look at me crosseyed ) Seriously, can’t stand the lawn decorations anymore - they gave my kids nightmares last time we trick-or-treated and I’m just done with celebrations of death and evil. Any Christian who trick-or-treats is just fine with me - but I’m done. So - any bostonian know of alternatives?

My kids are young and I am not big on roaming the streets to trick or treat. Most malls have trick or treat hours on Halloween and it is very family friendly. We took our kids last year and plan on going again.

Our Catholic school is having a family Halloween dance this Saturday. The key word is family and children are not allowed to attend without an adult. Its mostly the younger kids anyway and they have a great time.

One of the Methodist churches here is having “Trunk or treat” – parents bring their cars, pop the trunks, fill them with treats and the kids go from car to car – they’re also having face painting, one of those jumpy things, and other activities. It might be too late this year, but you could try putting together something like that next year – maybe as a block party-type things. My niece went to one several years ago when she was, like, 18 months old; and it worked really well – confined space, she had fun, mom didn’t have to take her to unknown neighborhoods.

I agree. Halloween is All Hallows’ Eve and “our” holiday as Catholics, the day before All Saints and two days before All Souls.

I am taking a professor in regalia (cap and gown) and a cheetah (not a cheetah girl, although she is a girl) trick or treating. I really like the idea of praying for others’ beloved dead and letting them know, as the article suggested.

Yeah, I’ve called my parish and they said I could have use of the parish hall for an All Hallows Eve party next year. I just have to be sure I get enough interest or else I won’t be able to pay for much of it. God will provide if it is His will.
