Bothersome about In Vitro

It really bothers me when people call themselves Catholic and resort to In vitro fertilization and then act like nothing is wrong with that.

Just like yesterday…Nicole Kidman and her husband, Keith Urban announced their surrogate had given birth to a daughter, which is biologically nicole and keith’s. So obviously, in vitro was done.

I know Nicole kidman had a very large Catholic wedding.

It really bothers me how she doesn’t get called on the carpet about it.

Celene Dion is another “good Catholic” who practices in vitro.

Surrogate motherhood is definately contrary to the teaching in Donum Vitae (1987).

“Surrogate motherhood represents an objective failure to meet the obligations of maternal love, of conjugal fidelity and of responsible motherhood; it offends the dignity and the right of the child to be conceived, carried in the womb, brought into the world and brought up by his own parents; it sets up, to the detriment of families, a division between the physical, psychological and moral elements which constitute those families.”

It really bothers me how she doesn’t get called on the carpet about it.

Really, is that what the Church is about? Calling people on the carpet? I don’t think so. If it is, then perhaps when you go to Mass on Sunday a list of your sins will be tacked to the door.

Priests do not make it a habit of announcing to the world when they are working with individuals to help them understand their Catholic faith and embrace Church teaching.

So, as with all things, you should assume the most charitable interpretation-- which would be that these people are very confused and perhaps were ignorant that what they did was wrong, and that their priest will help them to learn the Truth and form their consciences.

At the time Pope Paul XI issued Humanae Vitae six priests in Philadelphia refuse to accept it and were suspended by their bishop. They appealed to Rome, were reinstated, and the bishop was directed to use pastoral counseling rather than judicial process to correct errors. There after new bishops were chosen for their commitment to pastoral as opposed to judicial techniques.

This pleased those “faithful” were attracted to Artificial Birth Control and were consoled by pastoral confessors. Word quickly got around on which confessors to go to.

However, people have recently become upset when they found out that the bishops used the same approach to abusive priests.

This also seems the reason many bishops have not cracked down on pro-abortion politicians, adulterous celebrities etc.

Someplace in the Old Testament God promised to send us bad leaders as a punishment for disregarding His Laws.

Why are you so concerned about the lives of so-called celebrities, especially when their actions in this regard are their own business?

I am “concerned” about it becuase Nicole kidmad claims to be catholic but does not
live the catholic faith’s teachings.

So…this causes scandal and confusion and presents FALSELY the catholic teachings on in vitro.

I was not aware of any news stories about Nicole Kidman either claiming to be Catholic, nor any stories about her discussing something as personal as IVF. Granted, I find stories about so-called celebrities profoundly disinteresting, so I certainly don’t seek out this kind of information. I know there are many Catholics who disagree with the church teaching on IVF (perhaps even a majority who disagree). Yet I don’t know anyone who disagrees on this topic who presents their views as official church views - they just present it as their own views.

I am not saying she says ivf is the official church teaching. I AM saying, since she is
in the lime light people can go…“oh, look nicole kidman is catholic and she had IVF/surrogacy done, it must be ok” thus causing scandal and the spread of more
moral error.
