Why don’t we boycott condom sellers and write letters to large companies? Why do we continue shopping at large chains like Wal-mart that sell condoms? Why do our parishes buy from stores that sell prophalactics?

We might be hard-pressed to find stores that *don’t *sell them…

I’d be all for it, if it proved feasible. I’m all about a good boycott. 🙂

DH and I are eligible for WIC (women, infants and children) which gives us money for some of our groceries. The only two WIC vendors in town are Country Mart and Wal*Mart, and Country Mart doesn’t have a lot of the things that we need. I would love to boycott condom vendors. I went to the bathroom (pregnant women do that a lot) at a gas station two Sundays ago that had a condom machine in the women’s bathroom. We didn’t buy anything there; it was just a bathroom stop. DH and I prayed for the owners as we continued on our way to church. I wanted to say something to the person working at the desk but I couldn’t stand the cigarette smoke from a customer or two and we had to get going.

If we boycotted anyone who sold condoms, then wouldn’t we boycott anywhere that sold ‘the pill’? And if I did that I would be unable to buy any prescription medicine. This just doesn’t seem feasible to me.

I’d rather get at the source. Unmarried sex - if you get abstinence to work, then there would be no need for condoms in the first place.

It doesnt seem feasible to me either, right now. But if this picked up some momentum, don’t you think the larged Christian Church could effect things? If over 60 million people were united and really practiced their faith we would be unstoppable!

Lets see.
  • Condoms are sold in drug store, that means people who are sick cannot get medicine to make them well.
  • Condoms are sold in grocery stores, that means we cannot buy foot to eat.
Looks like it is not real feasble at the present time.

Here in Illinois our Governor made a stupid law that says something to the effect that pharmacies must fill oral contraceptive prescriptions asap. Add it condom sales and where am I supposed to get my prescriptions? I have an autistic child with some other medical conditions and he has 3 prescriptions. Show me a pharmacy that doesn’t sell condoms or other artificial forms of birth control.I’d love to use it. Does practicing my faith mean I have to with hold valuable medicine for my son so he can simply get through a day?

Would you be willing to support a pharmacy or pharmacist that ran a “family friendly” pharmacy; one that wouldn’t sell contraceptives or abortifacients? I would.

Another point to consider: Although we may not have any alternatives to shopping at pharmacies that sell birth control, couldn’t we still organize ourselves and write letters requesting that they stop? We can come up with a million good excuses and a billion bad ones not to try and stop the sale of contraceptives.

It will take real courage to stand up for what we believe and make a change. Christ never promised that following Him would be easy!

👍 I would certainly be willing to restrict my shopping to a family-friendly pharmacy that did not sell these products, and I would even go out of my way to shop there, providing there was no mark-up from regular pharmacy prices and I could get the items I need.

😦 I’m afraid that it will be futile to try to persuade most pharmacies, particularly the nation-wide chains, to stop selling birth control – it’s just too lucrative. There might be a chance, though, with some neighborhood operations, which are not corporately run. It’s worth a try with them.

If I had the $ to buy stamps, I’d be writing a few letters per week. Let’s do it! Shall we start by making a list of reasons to not sell BC? Here are some: cora.dashjr.org/badpill.html

Thanks for the link! 👍 That’s very useful information.
No problem. Please send it to all the women and men with girlfriends, fiances or wives you know. Mom was on the bcp for a while to regulate her periods and she had horrible headaches so even if you’re not using it to contracept, it’s bad.

Now that we have some reasons, who should we write to first?

Wal*Mart (their pharmacies have condoms & probably the bcp too)

Who else?

Corinne
