It’s curious then, isn’t it, that women are allowed to attend Holy Thursday mass at all or ever participate in the Eucharist, if it’s all about the fact that only men participated in the original event.

Just a thought.

Tricia Frances
The Last Supper had only men. After the Resurrection Jesus must have given instructions concerning the participation of women. If he would have given instructions about women priests and such then were the Apostles and the Popes and Bishops disobedient?

Elizabeth Anne, so you are all for the distruction of the Latin Mass community! There is no other Church that can accommodate us. The altar’s are fixed and most have no altar rail. That might not be a big deal to you but it is very important to us. How come the liberals get a pass but those of us who choose not to go schismic but wish to have the Latin Mass which the Pope said we could have are to be trampled?
You guys yell and scream about trads being schismic but you don’t seem to understand that you drive many towards it. All the SSPX that we brought back will be driven right back to the chapels when they close HT. Myself I will be heading to Worchester or Providence RI with most of the HT crowd. We will not just go back to our local parish. I don’t think you understand that we left them because of weak priest’s who let the progressives run wild. I don’t care to see a half naked priest again dancing around the altar.

I am not “all for the distruction of the Latin Mass community.” I merely said that although you prefer the Latin Mass, it is not the only choice. There are plenty of other conservative (obviously without Latin Masses) parishes in Boston where the priest does not dance around the altar half-naked. I have been to many Masses across our archdiocese, and I have never EVER seen a half-naked priest. I don’t know what situation exactly you are speaking of, but it sounds like an egregious offense that should be reported to the Archbishop O’Malley IMMEDIATELY.

Besides, as you said, if you prefer the Latin Mass you can go to Worchester or Rhode Island. It may not be as convenient, but the option has not been taken away from you.

In my parish they have washed women’s feet on Holy Thursday for the past 10 years or so. It used to be all men before this time. Then it was 6 men and 6 women. Then it became 3 men and 9 women. Then the priest eventually invited all in the church who wanted to get their foot washed to come forward like the line for Holy Communion. The people who come forward, slip off a shoe (women keep their stockings on) and the priest dabs some water on their foot. Is this truly Last Supper symbolism?
