Bread refers to Torah?

This web site claims that ‘In Jewish thought, bread was equated with the Torah, and “eating of it” was reading and understanding the covenant of God’ therefore ‘Jesus is actually telling the crowd that He is superior to the Torah’

does this statement have any validity (I am asking to better understand opposition to Catholicism)
 
Bread refers to knowledge and wisdom. So to the Rabbi, the Torah and Cabala would represent the bread of God. I don’t think Jesus fed the crowd via a copy of the Torah.

I am of a crowd predating the Torah, so to me they are saying something about like the Mormons proclaiming that the book of Mormon is the bread of God.

It is an ancient metaphorical term used throughout the ancient world cultures, along with many others.
