I totally understand that if it was a school pc, but I do not understand how it would open up their network to attacks by using a different account at home on a chromebook. Either way I’ve already emailed the tech dude and plan to meet with him to get it figured out.

It IS a school computer. It is part of their network no matter where you connect to the internet. The computer has restrictions and they’ve built their network around that. When you subvert those restrictions you open the entire network to issues–depending on how they built the network.

Glad you are remidying the issue.

I do not intend to sound rude in any way, but are you familiar with the difference between a school pc and chromebook? I understand that changing the restrictions on a school pc that is actually connected to the school network and has access to everything else on it would be dangerous (if that’s what you mean by network?) but the chromebooks provided only have access to the google drive accounts associated with the email signed into it at the time. They do not have access to any of the school’s systems. They only restrictions I bypassed were settings such as changing the background and other customization (which I know is a dumb reason) and to watch YouTube videos at home (again, another dumb reason) by using my personal account, God bless!

They should still be registered to the network. They are not simply individual pieces of technology. They wouldn’t have any chance of recovery if a device was stolen.

It does offer different issues but it’s not problem free. There are still network exposure issues.
