Brendan Eich, the former CEO of Mozilla who was “encouraged” by SJW types to resign from the company because of his support for traditional marriage has been working on a new browser called Brave.

The Browser is in development but has some very encouraging security features, permits no tracking and has built-in methods for dealing constructively with ads.

They may claim it doesnt allow any tracking, but what does that really mean, tracking by whom?

Id say with some certainty the Govt does quite a bit of tracking online, probably be surprised how many people they do keep tabs on and the type of data, what they are going to eventually use this data for is anyones guess though!

I just wonder if they will be allowed to restrict Govt agencies from tracking, or if they will have to give in somehow?

I mean, I read something today in the newspaper, Samsung is warning customers to be careful what they say around certain ‘smart tvs’, they imply there is software in them to keep track of what people are saying!!!

That’s the problem with the whole “internet of things”. Anything voice activated has to have an always-on microphone. God help you if you’re one of the idiots who bought Amazon Echo.
 
I have installed the developer version on an iMac. It is at least as fast as Safari and Chrome.

On sites with lots of ads it loads pages about twice as fast – 3 to 4 seconds compared to 6 or 8.

It doesn’t view pdfs within the page but asks to save the document. I am sure this is temporary as the company gets the browser completely functional.

Brave has a clean interface and does include developer tools. The preferences at this point are minimal but ad blocking options are in place.

It does show promise. I intend to use it as my main browser until I find any intolerable issues.
 
A couple of additional points…

Bookmarks and History are not yet available.

Tabs are available and these can be retained for next session - needs to be changed as a Preference option.

Complete blocking of ads speeds up page loading even more than the “Replace Ad” setting, which is the setting I used in the post prior to last.

Mousing over inactive tabs quickly reveals a slightly greyed preview.
