I’m having trouble finding explicit examples of brief blessings spoken by a member of the clergy when they leave a small informal audience. In my case, it’s a cardinal taking his leave after an informal meeting with a young boy. Would he bless the child and, if so, what might he say? This is for a story.

Thanks.

Probably something along the lines of, “May God bless you child in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

Would he make the sign of the cross? Would either say amen?

Thanks
