A teenage neighbor has asked me to bring her to church
this Sunday. The family doesn’t go to church. I feel nervous
wondering if I should be doing some kind of evangelizing, or
is just taking her enough, and let the mass speak for itself?
It just seems safer to be quiet so I don’t make any mistakes.
Any advice?

How about finding out what sparked her interest, then if she has questions or would like more info check out the info
in the booklets( “pillar of fire”.ect.)
some people respond to history.
some people its intellectual.
some emotional.
may the holy spirit guide her and you.:amen:

You know how we feel when JWs or Mormons who we don’t know from a bar of soap try to start indepth discussions about God with us? That would probably be something like what your neighbour would feel if you immediately started trying to convert her.

Certainly take her, tell her to feel free to ask about any questions she may have (but save them for afterwards!), and also ask her what she thought of it afterwards. Maybe towards the end of next week ask her if she would like to go again.

Ask her if she’s been to Mass before. If not, and if your parish doesn’t use missalettes, there are probably places on the net where you can find the order of the Mass to print off for her to have a look at. Just so she’s not totally lost at sea.

I’ll be praying for you and her.

Thank you, this is just what I needed. Ask her what sparked
her interest, ask if she has questions. I would have totally
forgotton about the missalette if you hadn’t mentioned it, I
know it will help. I really am grateful for this help, thank you
both.🙂

If you have a chance to stop by a Catholic book store before the weekend I would suggest getting her a book like “Understanding the Mass” or something else that explains what is happening and why at each point. I’m a convert who found the entire liturgy far more meaningful and less “scary” once I understood the “why” behind the actions and words. There are many inexpensive and short books that will provide great info. You can do a search on amazon and read the descriptions and reviews and still pick one up at a local store. If you cannot get it in time then I would tell her that I was getting her an explanatory book later so that she could understand what she saw.

What a blessing that this young person wants to attend church with you. We have the confirmation class from a local Protestant church that comes to attend a mass as part of their education every year. Our youth pastors set up the reciprocity which I think is good for both groups. They have a mini class with the visiting teens and explain things and answer questions also.
