Briscoe vs. Sipowicz

Two of my favorite television New York police detectives were Lennie Briscoe of Law & Order and Andy Sipowicz of NYPD Blue.
Why question to you good folks is - who was the better detective?

My vote is for Lennie Briscoe.

I never watched NYPD Blue. I did like the original Law and Order, and Lennie was a big reason why (Sam Waterston was annoying as heck and wanting to take everything to trial was grossly unrealistic). So Lennie gets my vote.

I vote for Lennie for exactly the same reason - Andy depended too much on physicality to close cases, rather than solving cases.

I read somewhere that most of the so-called wisecrackers made by Lennie Briscoe were ad-libbed by the actor, the late Jerry Orbach. I am sure if that is true or not.

I liked Columbo too, but since he resides in Los Angeles, I don’t think he’s being considered here.

Just have to say, Danny Reagan is #1. The guy just doesn’t stop fighting to solve cases. Huge fan of Blue Bloods, and NYPD Blue!
