I hope I’m not repeating a thread, but I did a search of this forum with my title here, and nothing came up.

Ok. So, have any of you read any of his books? I just love them. The characters are so Catholic…well, most of them are. And they just seem like people I’d want to meet if only they weren’t figments of the author’s imagination. 😛

If you have read them (there are only 3 still), do you have a favorite book? Favorite character? I love all of them, but I think I’d have to say House of Gold is my favorite book, and for a character, Buzz Woodward . Good ol’ Buzz.

If you haven’t read them and like fiction that is definitely Catholic, I would highly recommend them.

I’ve read almost all 3. I haven’t finished 1 of them yet (the one without Buzz and the gang).

I don’t recall the names but I enjoyed the 2nd book w/ Buzz better. And he’s probably my favorite character. I love when he camps outside of “The Man”'s house.

That one is Pierced By A Sword . It’s the first one he wrote. I love this one, too… And I just love “Pope Patrick”.

The first book with Buzz is Conceived Without Sin . The second is House Of Gold , which is my favorite. I love it when Buzz sets out to convert “The Man”, too! And for some reason I felt drawn to Buzz, and here he turns out to be a “hero”.

I read the first one a few years ago and started the second but got distracted. I really liked the first. It introduced me to concepts that I hadn’t heard of previously, and caused me to do more research and praying. I got the e-mail letter from his website for awhile and then moved so I hadn’t kept up with it. Then I saw his wife Bai’s name in an article online, and was very sad to hear that they are divorcing. It is not on good terms because she is against it. I try to keep that family in my prayers.

Oh no! I didn’t know this. I had been off-line for over a year after moving, and when I went back to the site where Bud’s letter originated from, it was different. And I checked out the e-letter, and he wasn’t the author. I had e-mailed him about 3 years ago, and he said he was working on his 4th book, which should have been published a couple years ago. I’ve wondered about it. He and his wife seemed so in love. I have to keep this family in prayer.

I read all three of them when I first had another “conversion experience” about 4 or 5 years ago…I really liked them…they actually got me on the road to reading some really great Catholic books on the Faith, the Saints, Apologists,The CCC and of course the Bible…not necessarily in that order…😉

Annunciata, I have heard alot of people either while having a converstion experience picking up these books, OR picking up these books has lead to a conversion experience. I think Bud’s books have done alot of good. It’s just so hard for me to think of him and his wife splitting up. I never met Bud, but we exchanged a few e-mails. He was actually nice enough to answer personally.

The books have led me also, to read more about our beautiful faith. And they led me to another series of great Catholic fiction by an author that deserves his own thread. So, why don’t I post one for Michael D. O’Brien? 👍

Hi Baptista!
I’m glad you shared that…I wonder how many others have had the same experience. Maybe we should send Bud e-mails telling him how much his work has helped us on our Faith’s Journey…
On the other note…Prayer can move mountains…so let’s just continue praying for him.

Yes, Annunciata, I agree that prayer can move mountains. I think praying for Bud and his family is the best thing we can do. I don’t think the e-mail address works anymore. I should try it. It was at the Catholicity site, and I don’t even know if he’s a part of that anymore, except for being able to get his books there.

Thanks, Annunciata. I have been to this site, but I clicked and wrote comments of praise for Bud’s books. Also asked if there was going to be another book.

Before going there, I looked up Bud’s old e-mail address…still had it! But it came back as undeliverable. 😦
