I live in Missouri, and at least one parent is required for a minor to obtain an abortion.

But yes, it is not right for those states that don’t require parental consent.

As a youth minister, I need parental consent for field trips, for over the counter medicine, for picture taking, you name it. And all of that is benign compared to killing a child. Dont’ forget, they can get condoms and birth control pills too without parental consent, but they can’t take a tylenol or a cough drop without it.
Something is seriously wrong here.
 
PS, That also includes playing on a sports team. I just don’t understand how parents can be eliminated when it comes to sexual issues.

When I was a teen-ager (in my “rebellious years”) I went to Planned Parenthood to get birth control pills. I was on the pill for a year without my mom’s knowledge. I had sooooo many health problems that could have turned serious with NO doctor checking up on me. I suffered from depression, I started having vision problems where my vision would go blurry. The first 4 months I was on the pill, the hormones made me so sick that I spent my first period English class EVERY day in the bathroom throwing up. I never told my mom about the problems I was having. Planned Parenthood NEVER called to check up on me to make sure I was doing OK. They just sent me out the door with about 6 months worth of free pills and told me to come back when they were gone.

…And our government says that my mom didn’t have a right to know about this?

BTW, I was 17 at the time and read a catholic book that talked about Margaret Sanger and her whole evil agenda which started birth control. I read that part in study hall and when the bell rang I threw those pills in the trash on my way out the door.

It doesn’t make sense does it? Work on you relationship with your children, talk to them and pray. If you are a man and help to create a child, be there for them, be a RESPONIBLE parent! Kids need a mom and a dad.

It’s unbelievabley ridiculous! I recently heard that by law school nurses can help girls set up appointments for and transportation to abortions during school hours (the parent would never ben the wiser) yet can’t give an asprin for a headache. Our society is seriously messed up!!

National Right to Life is on record, at present in SC and in the past opposing any modification to Roe. They are now fighting against the bills in the SC legislature outlawing abortion. Hmm, curious

On a side note, many states have past parental notification bills, only to see judges and others striking them down. Texas had 1 until long time Bush buddy and now CHief Law Enforcer Gonzales struck it down.
