There is a play place at a nondenominational church in my city and play places in wintertime are few and I wanted my kids to try something new. I took them there and the only stipulation is to buy something from the coffee shop. I bought some coffee from them but now feel unsure if I should have gone there because they most likely donate some/all of the revenue to their church. Any advice? Did I commit a sin?

I don’t think so. When I was working in Downtown Pittsburgh years ago, I often had lunch in 1st Presbyterian lunchroom and when I worked in East Liberty- same thing at the Presbyterian Church over there.

Made me no more of a Presbyterian, than the MRI I received today at UPMC Presbyterian.

You did not donate to their church. You paid for a cup of coffee. What they do with what is now their money is their business.

Would that have been the big Gothic style church built by the Mellons?

Indeed, it is, the East Liberty Presbyterian Church.

Very impressive, and most Catholic looking cathedral in Pittsburgh. Except for the stained glass windows of Knox and Calvin, of course

My grandfather told me how, when he was out of work during the Depression, he would go there at night while it was under construction and scrounge for scrap lumber to use in their stove for cooking and heating the house.

Long Answer:
I think I remember that buying coffee at a business not owned by a Catholic is grave matter, and that it appeared as the 11th commandment on the third tablet that was never found after Moses destroyed them on finding the Israelites worshipping a Golden Calf made by a non-denominational church from profits from their coffee shop.

Just kidding.

Short Answer: No you have not sinned.
