Fr. Thomas Loya, has started a radio show on AM 820 (Relevant Radio’s station) in Chicago (11:30am Sundays) in which he explains in detail the churches of the East, their contributions to the Catholic Church, and how our theology and liturgy could be just what the world needs. He also intends to talk quite a bit about the Theology of the Body.

Cool! Now all we all gotta do is move to Chicago:dancing: !!!

Seriously: is this show going to be available online?

The streaming audio IS available at the link that HagiaSophia provided.

This was the first of what is intended to be a series of regular broadcasts about the Churches of the East, and it was GREAT!! If any of my Latin brothers or sisters would like a concise, “thumbnail” of the Eastern Catholic Church, I highly recommend clicking on the link and listening to Fr. Tom’s talk.

BTW - this show (Light of the East is what it’s called) may cause one to ask, “So what? There are lots of Catholic radio shows out there.” Believe me, my friends, for the Byzantine Catholic Church this show is a BIG DEAL! Our mass media evangelization campaigns to date have been extremely limited. This program is finally a venture into a major radio market (Chicago), and is available to a listening audience of some 13 million people! Fr. Tom’s enthusiasm about the show is infectious… the conclusion of Sunday’s Divine Liturgy coincided roughly with this inagural broadcast, so Father invited the entire congregation to stick around and share the experience as a parish family by listening together in the church.

Please, if you’re in the Chicago area, consider tuning in on Sundays… others outside of the area can always listen to future shows via the provided link… truly worth a listen!

Oh, and while you’re visiting the link you may want to take a look at the photos of what a truly magnificent Byzantine Catholic church looks like. Better still… pay a visit if you’re able!

I LOVE the Eastern Rite Churches. I would be an Eastern Rite Catholic in a second if there was a Church nearby (and if I could convince my wife to come along with me.)

Go to parma.org/
There, you will find a parish near you.
The Eparchy of Parma covers the Great Lakes States and the north plains states.

Why is this on the “Non-Catholic Religions” board? Surely Byzantine Catholicism is not a non-Catholic religion.

I posted it and I put in here because a number of other rites as well as Orthodox hang out in here regularly.

I have to make an update on this post.
The radio station (WELW) has shifted their schedule around, so the times posted may have changed. Try it and see anyway. If not, I will update the day and times once I talk to Father.

P.S. I heard the program, strangely enough, at 7 AM this morning!

For those interested …
I went to the WELW website and my Pastor’s program: Joyful Light is now on Saturday morning at 7AM EST and still heard at 6:30 AM EST on Sunday mornings.
