Also check out Card’s “Memory of Earth” series, which is a retelling of parts of the Book of Mormon in a sci-fi context (particularly I Nephi). I understand that the original Battlestar Galactica had a similarly Mormon inspiration.

I’m a never-Mo. However, they don’t like me because of my ancestry. The parts they don’t like are Native, and I was taught in my childhood that the BOM is offensive to us, because it perverts some sacred stories, about the Viking invasion.
