My dad flew to L.A. because my uncle suffered a brain stroke. My dad says the hospital is moving too slow and he wants to transfer my uncle to another hospital.

Right now, he is in St. Francis Hospital in California. My dad said he’s in Maywood, but I thought my uncle lived in Lynwood, so I’m not sure if it’s in Maywood or Lynwood California. We’re not familiar with California.

So I was wondering what are some good hospitals around the L.A. (Maywood/Lynwood) area. Especially for people who have suffered brain strokes.

My dad says he’ll wait 1 or 2 days more, but he’s desperate. I told him to wait and pray and I hope St. Francis is a good hospital.

I can’t tell you about a good hospital in the L.A. area, but I can tell you that St. Francis Hospital is in Lynwood–I was born there.

However, I did grow up in Maywood.

I just hope my uncle comes out okay. I don’t think it’s a good idea to move him for now, I hope the swelling in his brain goes down before my dad decides to transfer him. I’ve been searching online for some other hospitals in the area.

UCLA Medical Center, USC Medical Center, or Huntington hospital would be your best bets. It also depends on your health coverage. I’m not sure what treatment facilities they have for stroke patients, but they would really be the best in the area.

Scripps is good and my favorite for treatment of the body/soul as a package is Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, outside Riverside/San Bernardino. It’s Seventh Day Adventist, but you can’t beat the care.

Look for a ‘Magnet Hospital’ designation. Here is a site that lists them. These are the California ones. Cedars-Sini is supposed to be very good, UCLA, and Loma Linda all have excellent reputations.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I’ve been looking on the net and it seems that Cedars-Sinai has a good neurology program and also they are in LA so it’s not far. That’s the one I’m leaning towards in case my dad asks again.
