Dr. Brian Clowes at Human Life International wrote this great book (with audio CD available). We need to become organized, raise awareness, and fight the dissent that is hurting our Church. If our enemies within the church care enough about their heresies to organize in hopes of defeating our Church, why are we all just standing around fighting on different fronts individually? United, we can bring orthodoxy back into our parish communities!

Saint Michael, defend us as we prepare for battle.

I think the complaints about Call to Action need to be addressed within the individual diocese. Not all groups are as “out there” as what we’ve seen portrayed here. It’s a little like saying all K of C groups are bad, because the one at my parish had a couple of men in there who were a little too fond of teenage girls.

This analogy does not work, because Call to Action’s charter calls for structural and destructive changes to the Church, whereas the Knights of Columbus’ charter does not. What individual members within either organization choose to do is irrelevant to the organizations’ stated purpose.

I have read Dr. Clowes’ book as well, and I highly recommend it.

Can you cite some examples of the “destructive” changes to the church? I’m not all that familiar with CTA…I just know what I’ve seen here and in my own diocese.

It is not just a particular chapter of CTA that is bad. The organization is rotten at its very core. Just a quick perusal of their website shows that they, as an organization, embrace beliefs that are at odds with the Catholic faith. And not just in matters of discipline such as married priests, for instance.

According the the FAQ on the Call to Action website, the organization promotes the belief that *“the priesthood is open to all people: single, married, women, men”. *The idea that the priesthood should be open to women is a heretical view that has been condemned by Pope John Paul II in his Apostolic letter Ordinatio Sacerdotalis where he writes that:

Wherefore, in order that all doubt may be removed regarding a matter of great importance, a matter which pertains to the Church’s divine constitution itself, in virtue of my ministry of confirming the brethren (cf. Lk 22:32) I declare that the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women and that this judgment is to be definitively held by all the Church’s faithful.

The FAQ also contains this statement:
“laity and clergy are to be consulted in the formulation of church doctrine and discipline, including human sexuality, academic freedom, roles of the laity and liturgical issues”

Where to begin with this one? CTA is a little cautious with the way they word the answers to their Frequently Asked Questions but essentially they advocate voting on our beliefs. Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger effectively denounced the error that laity should be consulted in the formulation of doctrine with my favorite quote from him: *“Truth is not determined by a majority vote”. *

And then there is “laity and clergy are to be consulted in…human sexuality”. CTA is an advocate of both abortion and contraception. Both are unacceptable to the Catholic Church.

Again from their FAQ: “83% of U.S. Catholics believe that it is morally wrong to discriminate against homosexuals” CTA favors gay “marriage”.

As the thread title mentions Call to Action is better called Call to Apostasy. As an organization they advocate many, many positions that are evil and unacceptable to the Church. The good news is that as a group they are dying off. I know that pictures of their conferences show nothing buy gray hair and not a young face in the crowd. As a group they are essentially contracepting themselves to death.

Call to Action is a sort of umbrella organization housing numerous dissenters from Catholic teaching. These include member organizations such as Catholics For Choice- a radical pro-abortion group, CORPUS- promoting women’s ordination, Pax Christi- defending a distorted view of social justice, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good- confused the real issues inherent to the USCCB document “Faithful Citizenship” and actually promoting the abortion and homosexual “rights” extremist candidate for President of the US, Future Church- in favor of women’s ordination and “optional celibacy”, Dignity USA- “celebrating the wholeness and holiness of LGBT Catholics”, Voice of the Faithful- “keep the faith, change the church” trying to turn the Church into a democracy governed by laity, and many, many more.

I pray that by exposing the dissenters for what they are (heretics) we can unite and defeat them. They are very organized, active on the parish level (many DRE’s, Liturgical Committee Chairs, even some Bishops, and many Priests, Deacons and Religious are involved), and “hell-bent” to change the Doctrines and Dogmas of the Church. We acknowledge that in the end they will not succeed, as Jesus always wins (AMEN!), but we must be prepared and deal with these heretics head on.

Clowes book is a tad dated (1997) and the information in it is even more dated. I agree with the book but CTA has significantly changed since then. Mostly in the area of becoming elderly. Many of the Characters have either completely separated from the CHurch, grown old/died or have gone so absolutely fringe that they are not considered legit to the average Catholic. CTA was quite strong at one time in my area but as the JPII generation has moved to the forefront it has faded into oblivion.

P.S. Here is an example of an organization that has already been formed to help fight dissent in the Church.

If the organizational structure is dissolving, that is very good. The roots of the organization, ie. dissent, still exist and are thriving all over. Openly discussing women’s ordination, situations in which it is okay to use contraception, making “fun of” the priesthood during homilies, teaching that Jesus was merely a human person, that feeding the hungry is more urgent than preventing the slaughter of innocent children, handicapped or elderly, democratic rather than heirarchical structure, new age junk (crystals, centering, tai-chi, zen, yoga, reiki, labryinths, magic stones, etc.), liturgical dancing, changing the words and structure of the Sacred Liturgy, crystal chalices for the Precious Blood, heretical protestant hymns, false “ecumenism,” sacriligeous dispensation of the Sacraments (all are welcome to partake in the Eucharist, Annointing), and on, and on, and on.

Most of the laity “grin and bear it” around here. We are ridiculed and mocked for speaking up, fired from teaching positions in the parishes, etc. The weed of dissent may have lost its foliage, but the roots are strong. The greatest lie the devil ever told is that he doesn’t exist. I am aware of people traveling across the country to attend orthodox seminaries (like Holy Apostles in Cromwell, CT) because there are no seminaries in their region that have not fallen to heresies and dissent. A priest friend of mine has been ordered by his superior to never speak about sin, hell, judgement, life issues, and other topics in the Church. He is free to hold his orthodox opinions but must not teach against the heresy prevalent in his area.

Pray, fast, and don’t let your guard down. We’re still in battle. Saint Michael, defend us.
