Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Has the call to prayer ever been greater? I wonder if the divisions in this country and around the world could have ever been greater – or if our 24/7 news just pounds the discord into our minds and hearts more than ever before?

Sister Lucia’s book is like a “little voice” crying in the wilderness of a confused and sometimes bitterly angry humanity. Nevertheless, if we listen to what she heard from God through Mary, would we not be the wiser for it? I believe we would. Continuing to speak about Fatima’s “Call to Prayer” in chapter 9, Sister wrote:
…There are many ways of praying or of meeting God in prayer. Which is the best? The best is the way that helps that particular person to meet God and remain in intimate contact with Him, heart to heart, thrilling with love for the Father with the heart of Jesus Christ, assuming the same longings and sentiments as Jesus Christ Himself, as He wished us to do…
Sister then quotes from Jesus’ sublime Priestly Prayer in John 17. Perhaps we might take that prayer for our prayer today. Faith comes through hearing and hearing through the Word of God. By God’s grace may we open the ears of our hearts to listen to Jesus’ prayer, unite our hearts with His, and grow in Faith , Hope, and above all Charity, today.
