Called by grace? or not?

Can anyone explain to me what it means to be called by grace? or called by God?
If you are not called; how do you know? Why would we bother to pray? go to church?
or do any other spiritual excercises or searching for God,if God isn’t calling you to a life with him?
I heard (maybe didn’t hear correctly) on the Dr. David Anders show something about a passage in the bible (Acts?) that not all are called.

GOD has made us in HIS likeness therefore we long to know HIM.
HE puts in us that longing but we can reject it.
When we are called and we respond we do so appropriately by trying to be more like HIM. Jesus is our example.
“Not all are called” refers to the fact that GOD can pour HIS graces as HE pleases. Some receive more “Grace” than others. Same as some experience miracles while others do not.
We cannot fault GOD. Humbly accept HIS will. Like Jesus did.
