Any thoughts about it?
Thanks

Hi bejo,

Our Parish is going to start it up this year.

One of our parishioners went to a workshop at another Parish and reported back to us about how good it is, and so we are going to invest in it.

I think it is a great idea as many people don’t know what their strengths are, and how to discern how they are being called by God to do His work.

In our diocese, this is a formal two year program for the laity so that they can become lay leaders in the parish.

This is the of the lay ministry formation program which entails, one evening of week academics that involves bible study, sacraments, church history, liturgy, service to the needy, magisterial study of the encyclicals etc…and also a Saturday workshop monthly which might lead us to retreat, liturgy outside of the usual realm, like ethnic, Afrrican American study, etc…

The people who complete this program, then go back to their home parish and incorporate the skills they have learned to enhance their parish families.

Some of the catechists of our religious education program have gone through this program…and what they mostly say they have come away from it…is a deeper desire to serve and learn more about the Lord and share it with others.

It can work!

Hi this all seems very positive and I would like to do something in our parish. What have yo got over there that we might be able to have sent to us?

Here’s the link for our diocese’s program at the University of St.Mary’s…part of our seminary program in Chicago.

Explore it, and perhaps you can get some information from the office that runs it to forward you information.

Good luck and with all things, pray on it.

Our parish had a weekend deal that I believe was this same workshop or a very similar name. I know that it was about discernment of and use of gifts. It was very well attended. I personally missed it, but some of my CRHP sisters went and got a lot out of it.
