This is the time of year when your parish and diocese are recruiting new catechists, and offering formation classes. Please listen up and when you hear or see the appeal, respond. It simply boggles the mind to think of the renewal our Church would undergo if all the expert here on CAF would put the rubber to the road and evangelize in their own parishes. woo woo. RCIA newbies, please consider being a sponsor for the next group, you will learn twice as much as you did on the first go-round, and be such a priceless asset to your candidate.

If you are an experienced catechist, and think you don’t need any more classes, take one any how, even a beginner’s class, because you will be there as a mentor to a new catechist, and we need you there to testify.

I agree. I completed the Marian Catechist Basic Course and our whole group of RCIA Catechists are going to the Bosco Conference at Stubenville this year. Renew Renew Renew

I have volunteered to be a catechist. Last year, I was a Confirmation mentor, but the classes are moved to Mondays for next year - conflicts with bell choir. Next year, I will be assistant for the 4-year olds. I haven’t had the training yet.

that will be a switch, but there will also be a lot more similarities than you would expect, in that both groups are notorious for asking difficult questions. God bless you for doing this.

Hi, I am a new Catholic and mentioned that I would like to work with the RCIA to support new people in the next class. I was told that I cannot be a sponser my first year and will have to wait a year. Whats the scoop??

well frankly we have such a need for sponsors, I would never say no, we would welcome you with open arms, besides, in the ideal world you would participate for another year of mystagogy anyhow.
