I am reviving this thread which I began years ago …
For now, I want to say two things:
First, the issues in this thread are still very much burning in my soul … and I welcome hearing from anyone who cares about them the way I do.
Second, I recently published by far the most intensive piece I have yet done on the question of what happened to Catholic Ireland.
This piece is a review of Mary Kenny’s great, but little-known book Goodbye to Catholic Ireland.
My review quotes Mary Kenny in depth - raising the issues that are raised so little in the ordinary media. (I should say completely blacked-out by the ordinary media!)
Anyway, link to what Kenny says here - as well as my own commentary on Kenny:

I think there is a lot to chew over in what Kenny writes. If anyone agrees, I would be grateful for responses …
