I walked around a town down a quiet street in which only 2 or 3 people saw me in which I carried a campaign poster of a politician on whose position on abortion is unclear to me.

I have had doubts about whether I commited a sin or not as a result. Could someone help?

It is best to make sure you know their views for the subject of Abortion . The church strongly encourages us to support candidates who’s views are Pro Life not just in the subject of abortion but in terms of pulling the plug (playing God) and stem cell research as well (skin cell is an alternative for that )

Since it has occurred to you that you may have done something wrong,i suggest you take more time in learning your religion.Since it didn’t occur before to you I wouldn’t say you committed a mortal sin but that is only my opinion.Read other posts than can give you a definite answer.people do commit mortal sins without real thought on what they are doing.

did you directly procure an abortion, help someone else do so, perform an abortion, or vote for a politician whose work directly enables abortion with the intent to support abortion in some way? no? then no sin. Even if this was the most flagrantly anti-life congressman in the country, if you did not know it you could not have sinned, because sin requires knowledge as well as full free will intention and consent.

memo: do your research before voting and campaigning.
