It is best to make sure you know their views for the subject of Abortion . The church strongly encourages us to support candidates who’s views are Pro Life not just in the subject of abortion but in terms of pulling the plug (playing God) and stem cell research as well (skin cell is an alternative for that )I walked around a town down a quiet street in which only 2 or 3 people saw me in which I carried a campaign poster of a politician on whose position on abortion is unclear to me.

did you directly procure an abortion, help someone else do so, perform an abortion, or vote for a politician whose work directly enables abortion with the intent to support abortion in some way? no? then no sin.
