Hi all,

Getting confirmed into the Church this Easter, thanks be to God. Everything has been going quite smoothly to an extent in terms of my spiritual life, but then something happened. My ex from two years ago (before I converted to Catholicism) FaceTimed me out of nowhere. I shouldn’t miss my past life and decisions, but part of me still holds on to those memories. She’s moved away across the country now (U.S.), but I just cannot seem to move on for some reason. I like the religious life way more, but part of me does not want to let go/I can’t stop thinking abt her from time to time. Any help with combatting these thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all

Give it time. Time heals all wounds, friend. Pray and move on. See it as an oppertunity to find the actual right person God wants you to be with.

I believe in you.

She’s your ex for a reason, and is in the past - so leave it there. Perhaps pray for her. But ask God to bring you the spouse He wants for you, continue to pray, trust, wait and hope. We cling to what we know or what we wish was or what we’ve lost - especially when lonely.
Any help with combatting these thoughts
When you become aware of the line your thoughts are taking - pray for her, give your past and your present and your future to God. Then dismiss them and concentrate on something else. It becomes easier with time.
