I’m wanting to choose for my confirmation name Marion-Imelda, after Our Lady and Blessed Imelda. Since Imelda isn’t known as a saint, would this be OK?
You can still pick a name, it doesn’t matter what they “prefer”. This happen to me and I was an adult -though younger and less out spoken one. I wasn’t confirmed as a teenager.Thank you very much Deacon Ed!
I am sort of worried about something, however. My former parish was asking us to choose a name, but we moved during the RCIA program to a different parish. They have yet to mention choosing a name. I’ve heard them say they prefer the name you were baptized with. Would it be wrong of me to ask for a name, how should I go about this?
Thanks very much, I -just- found out they had requested our names though. D’oh!You can still pick a name, it doesn’t matter what they “prefer”. This happen to me and I was an adult -though younger and less out spoken one. I wasn’t confirmed as a teenager.
I wanted to pick the name Mary but the nun giving the adult confirmation instruction said people used to pick confirmation names but that’s more of an old fashion idea. I regret not speaking up.
