My aunt bought some replacement moss for my nativity scene from a Bontanica near by, was it a good idea? Should you buy any statues or any non Santeria objects from a Bontanica?

I’m sorry, but Santeria? Isn’t than pagan or Wiccan or something? I had to google Bontanica, but I think…if you indeed are talking about Santeria, that you should just stay full well away from anything.

Of course I could misunderstand you, and perhaps you mean sacramental. If that’s the case, then yes, it’s fine. It’s fake moss for a Nativity scene. No harm.

Santeria, as I understand it from my Cuban friend, is a mixture of paganism and Catholicism. Basically, the saints are adored and some weird magic is done. But my knowledge of this is limited.

However, it’s not that she did anything wrong, but technically her money was used to keep a pagan place open for another day… indirect participation in evil, but she wasn’t really sinning or anything.

something to keep in mind when buying things from a specific distributor.

Sanataria, to my understanding, is a synthretic religion. It’s a combination of voodoo and Catholicism that was practiced by some groups when they were forced to convert. Saints are used to represent voodoo spirits.

In two words: Not Kosher.

Santeria is actually a demon worship and sacrifice that is disguised to appear Catholic. Steer clear of it at all costs. Nativity grass may not be a big deal per se, but…
