Can a Catholic joins a Protestant's Sunday Worship?

Back at home there are two separated islands where there is no other religions on, except the Protestant Church. Sometimes a catholic person is sent there for two or three years of work, such as a teacher or any other governmental reasons. Can this person joins the worship on sunday in order for him or her not to miss a sunday as we, catholics, are recommended to attend?
