Can a Catholic layperson "Bless" an article ... like a candle or a rosary?

Why is that unfortunate? I think it is wonderful that certain blessings are reserved to the dignity of the priesthood. It gives them a level of authority that no layman can impart.

Note also that there are blessings reserved to bishops alone. Such as the consecration of a new church altar.

Yes, you are quite right @Anesti33. It was a very poor selection of words on my part, I should have said “Please note” instead of “unfortunately” (as the word “unfortunately” seems to imply that I am somehow disappointed with this practise which I am not). It is yet one more reason to be grateful for our priests and deacons that only they can bless our religious articles! (I would change my post too but I am no longer able to edit it)
