A Catholic couple recently had their marriage officiated in a restaurant. According to the couple, they were already married in the Catholic Church, they just wanted their marriage officiated. It’s been awhile since I researched this topic, but this sounds peculiar. What does that mean?

I don’t know, and I can only suggest you ask the couple for their understanding of what kind of ceremony they had. All I can tell you is that Catholics cannot marry more than once, and should not attempt to “re-present” an already valid marriage. If they were already married in the Church, there would be no reason for a second ceremony—at a restaurant or anywhere else.
