Can a non-holy day liturgy fulfill a holy day obligation?

This Thursday is a holy day of obligation in the Byzantine Catholic church. I cannot get to my Byzantine parish (70 miles away) for liturgy. The local Roman Catholic churches are celebrating the Ascension on Sunday, May 16. Can I fulfill my obligation by attending a Roman Catholic Mass on Wednesday evening or Thursday, even if it is not for the Ascension? Christ is risen!
 
So far as I know, yes. All that matters is that you attend a Catholic eucharistic liturgy on the evening before or the day of the holy day of obligation. The liturgy itself does not have to be specifically geared to the holy day. And, in any case, a genuine inability to get to a eucharistic liturgy due to distance from a church is just reason to miss going to liturgy on a Sunday or holy day of obligation. Since you can go to a nearby Roman Catholic parish for a daily Mass though, that is better than missing liturgy altogether on a holy day of obligation.
