Can a person who dies in a state of grace still go to hell?

And does absolution through confession place one in the state of grace?

A person who dies in a state of grace goes to heaven (after purgatory, if necessary). And yes, presuming the penitent has the necessary disposition to receive it, sacramental absolution either increases sanctifying grace already in the soul or re-establishes a person to a state of grace (if he had been outside that state before absolution).
